We don’t offer one-size-fits-all approach. We recognise that you bring life experience, analytical thinking, and specific goals to the board. Whether you’re a complete beginner or preparing for tournament play, we adapt our teaching methods to match how you learn best.
Busy with work or family? Our online chess coaching sessions fit your schedule. Book lessons when it suits you – morning, lunchtime, or evening. We make it easy to learn without adding pressure to your routine.
Having a high chess rating doesn’t make someone a good teacher. Our coaches combine strong chess skills (2000+ ratings) with teaching ability. They explain the thinking behind moves, not just what moves to play.
No boring lectures here. Our chess coaching sessions mix live game analysis, puzzles, and practice games. You’ll stay engaged while building skills that help both on and off the chessboard.
We’ll help you build a solid foundation with opening theory, controlling the centre, piece coordination, and basic strategic planning. You’ll learn how to develop your pieces effectively, when to castle for safety, and how to control key squares. We also cover basic tactical patterns like pins, forks, and skewers that appear in every game. Whether you’re new to chess or need to strengthen your fundamentals, we make sure you understand the essentials that every strong player uses.
Learn to spot winning combinations, threats, and defensive moves more quickly. We use tactical exercises to improve your pattern recognition and calculation abilities, so you can see opportunities your opponents miss. You’ll practice common tactical motifs like discovered attacks, deflection, and removal of the guard. We’ll also teach you how to calculate variations accurately and avoid tactical blunders that cost games.
We’ll analyse how you currently start your games and help you find better approaches. You’ll develop a personal opening repertoire that suits your style and gives you confidence from move one. Rather than memorising endless variations, we focus on understanding opening principles: rapid development, king safety, and centre control. You’ll learn 2-3 solid openings as White and reliable defences as Black, with clear plans for the middlegame.
Understand pawn structure, weak squares, and piece activity. We’ll teach you how to make plans in the middlegame and execute them effectively, rather than just moving pieces around. You’ll learn to identify weak pawns and squares in your opponent’s position, improve your worst-placed pieces, and create long-term advantages. We cover typical pawn breaks, piece exchanges, and how to transition from opening to middlegame smoothly.
From basic king and pawn endings to more complex rook and minor piece endgames, we’ll teach you the techniques you need to finish games confidently. No more drawn positions when you should be winning.
Study both your own games and those of strong players to deepen your understanding. You’ll learn how to evaluate positions, spot mistakes, and develop long-term plans like experienced players do. We’ll show you how to analyse your games using computer assistance without becoming dependent on it. You’ll study classic games to understand strategic themes and learn how grandmasters think about positions.

We’re confident you’ll love our chess coaching, but if you’re not completely satisfied, we’ve got you covered.
If you’re not happy with your first chess coaching session, we’ll give you a full refund – no questions asked. We believe our teaching approach works, and we want you to feel completely comfortable trying it out.
Not only will we refund your payment if you’re not satisfied, but we’ll also give you a second lesson absolutely free with another one of our coaches.
Most adults notice improvements within 4-6 weeks of regular lessons. You’ll typically see tactical awareness improve first, followed by better opening play and strategic understanding. The speed depends on how often you play and practise between sessions.
No rating required! We teach complete beginners who don’t know how the pieces move, as well as experienced players rated over 1800. Our coaches adapt their teaching style to match your current level.
Absolutely. If you feel a different coaching style might work better for you, just let us know and we’ll match you with another coach from our team at no extra cost.
You can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your session without any charge. We understand life gets busy and we’ll work around your schedule.
We’ll suggest practice exercises and games to play between sessions, but there’s no pressure. However, students who practise regularly tend to improve much faster than those who only play during lessons.
